Sony ACID vs. GarageBand:?
I worked with Sony ACID for a year or so and created about 12 songs. Now I have a MacBook Pro so I use GarageBand and have bought one plug-in bonus pack, because it came with about 1/4 the loops and options that Sony ACID came with. The question: is it just me or is ACID way more user friendly and has LOTS more options (with everything) than GarageBand? I mean, I feel like I got a downgrade in the music department of notebooks...
Constructive criticism only, please!
I have not worked with Acid, so I can't do a comparison. I only hope to highlight some of what Garageband does, and hopefully it will help:
1) I did find that there were not a lot of instruments that came with Garageband. I did buy a couple of music packs - I don't use loops much, but those packs came with a lot of loops and some additional instruments. Each of the packs I bought contains more than a thousand loops, I think.
2) Garageband is great at integrating with other iLife applications, so it is very easy to take what you've generated and share it with your iTunes - essentially a one-click process. I've also used it to score music for a home movie that was imported into iMovie.
3) I've done more than a hundred songs in Garageband, and now I'm considering graduating to the next level application - logic express. My understanding is that all my songs would be easily exportable to LE. If I ever graduate to the professional level using logic pro, my understanding again would be that they would all be exportable there as well. The instruments/loops are all compatible across GB, LE, and LP.
4) I've not done podcasts, but my understanding is that podcasts are easily achievable using GB too.
Hope that helps.
